ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari held a ceremony in honour of the victorious national cricket team of the World Twenty20 Cup here at the President House on Thursday.
Paying rich tributes to the victorious team at the ceremony, the President said that he has celebrated the victory with the nation for the first time after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and federal minister for sports Pir Aftab Jilani were also present at the reception, hosted by President Zardari for the victorious national team at the President House.
While congratulating the team on winning the World Cup, the President said that he also celebrated the victory with his children.
He said that the Pakistan nation has excelled in every department and there is no boundary of this achievement.
The President advised the team to follow the principles of unity, faith and discipline.
He gave away the prizes to the players.
